Dr. Emilia Silja Hannula
Leiden University, NLD
Dr. Emilia Hannula is currently an assistant professor in Leiden University Institute of Environmental Sciences. She obtained her PhD in 2013 from Netherlands Institute of Ecology and has worked since in multiple EU and Dutch research council projects on topics related to soil biology with special focus on soil fungi.
Her research focuses on understanding how composition, traits and interactions between soil biota regulate ecosystem functions, how disturbances affect soil biota and subsequent functions, and ultimately how soil biodiversity and functions can be restored. Her expertise includes tracing carbon through system using stable isotopes, microbiome analysis, and networks. She currently leads research program on Future Food systems.
